Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the 2008 Air Transport Research Society World Conference, held in Athens, Greece. The conference was co-organized by the Hellenic Aviation Society and the University of the Aegean and attracted more than 350 delegates from all over the world. Dr Taieb Cherif, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was the keynote speaker at the opening plenary session.
Co-organiser and chairman of a half-day Conference entitled Air Transport and Tourism: Synergies and Parallelisms to launch the new MSc Programme in Tourism and Air Transport Management (11th of June 2003). The conference was co-organised by the University of Surrey and the Tourism Society. Subsequently, Dr Papatheodorou was invited to write a relevant editorial in Tourism Hospitality Research, 5(1), 2004.
